Support for Self-Employment
Help in Becoming a Self-Employed Worker
Would you like to start your own business or become a self-employed
worker? If you are eligible for the Support for Self-Employment measure,
you can receive financial assistance to develop a business plan and get
your business off the ground or create your own job.
You are eligible if
- you receive Employment Insurance benefits;
- you receive employment-assistance benefits;
- you are unemployed and do not receive public income support;
- your employment status is unstable.
The Support for Self-Employment measure must enable you to find
employment and join the work force.
Eligible projects
To be eligible for assistance, your project must
- be viable;
- meet a community need;
- not create unfair competition for existing businesses.
Participation time
Implementation of your project must be your main occupation.
Duration of assistance
Maximum 52 weeks

- CLD-accredited organizations that offer entrepreneurial support
